Dental Veneer Procedure at Dr. Amarnathan’s Dental Care

01

Step 1

A model is prepared with wax material to record the teeth size, shape and it is forwarded to the dental laboratory. The thickness of veneers is also determined after inspecting the teeth.

02

Step 2

Our dentists prepare your teeth by removing a small proportion of teeth’s front surface (typically 0.3mm to 1.0mm) equal to the veneer’s thickness. This is done to make sufficient space for veneer on teeth surface. Until the veneer is fabricated, we provide a temporary veneer-like shell.

03

Step 3

After a few days, the temporary shell is removed and the fabricated veneer is glued over the prepared tooth with special adhesive cement.

Will my veneers damage when I bite?

Dental veneers are very strong and they can withstand the chewing forces like your natural teeth. Meanwhile, they are composite materials and they cannot reinforce the strong forces applied.

To put it simply, whatever damages your teeth will ruin your porcelain veneers also.

What habits should I avoid after getting veneers?

Give up all bad habits that spoil your teeth’s health. The common things to mention include:

  • Biting / Chewing non-edibles
  • Chewing ice
  • Nailbiting
  • Fork nibbling
  • Straw chewing
  • Opening pen caps
